What is uPVC?
Unplasticised polyvinyl chloride: a rigid PVC that is extruded into window and door profiles. It does not rot or corrode, and it conducts heat poorly. How long it lasts in the sun depends on the compound, especially its UV pigmentation.
What is the difference between sliding and casement?
Sliding panels move along tracks and do not swing open, which suits wide openings and tight spaces. Casement sashes are hinged and press onto the gasket when closed, which usually seals more tightly. TruFrame makes two of each: Peafowl and Falcon (sliding), Casement 60 and Casement 50.
What does profile depth mean?
The front-to-back depth of the frame section, in millimetres. TruFrame systems are 60 mm (Peafowl, Falcon, Casement 60) or 50 mm (Casement 50). A deeper section has more room for chambers and larger glazing, but depth alone does not give a performance figure.
What do chambers do?
Chambers are the hollow cells inside a profile. They hold still air, which slows heat moving through the frame. They also stiffen the section and provide separate spaces for reinforcement and drainage. TruFrame systems have three to five.
Can TruFrame systems take double glazing?
Glazing options depend on the system and the profile used. We do not publish glazing thicknesses per system yet. Tell us the system and the glass you want, and the technical team will confirm what fits.
Which system suits a large opening?
For wide openings where a sash should not swing, Peafowl is the sliding family intended for wider openings. Large openings also need reinforcement, hardware and glazing chosen for the size and exposure, so the technical team confirms each one.
Performance
How does uPVC reduce heat transfer?
uPVC conducts heat far less readily than aluminium, and the chambers inside the profile hold still air, which conducts heat even less. Glazing also matters a great deal. TruFrame thermal figures will be published per system when testing is complete.
How does sealing affect dust and noise?
Both come in through air gaps. A gasket between sash and frame closes those gaps. It needs to be continuous and correctly fitted at the corners. TruFrame systems use TPE gaskets.
How does drainage work?
In driving rain, some water gets past the outer line of any window. Drainage slots machined into the frame during fabrication let that water run back outside instead of collecting in the frame or reaching the wall.
What role does reinforcement play?
Steel inserted into a chamber stiffens the profile so long frames stay straight and hardware stays firmly fixed. Whether it is needed depends on opening size, system, exposure and hardware. The fabricator fits it, and the technical team confirms it for each project.
Process
Who fabricates the finished window?
TruFrame manufactures the profile. A fabricator cuts, reinforces, welds, glazes and fits hardware to make the finished window or door.
Who installs it?
Usually the fabricator or dealer who supplies the windows, or an installer they appoint. Ask who is responsible for the joint between window and wall before you order.
What information is needed for a quote?
Opening sizes (width × height), how many openings, sliding or casement, the floor and which way each faces, your city, and what matters most: noise, heat, dust, rain or appearance. A plan or photo helps.
How do I get technical drawings?
Preview drawings for all 34 profiles are in the technical drawing library. For CAD files, send a request with the system and project.
Evidence
Which performance numbers are independently tested?
None are published yet. Acoustic, thermal and wind-load testing is in progress, and figures will be published per system with the reports. Until then this site shows no performance numbers.
Which documents are available?
The profile section drawings and a preliminary system specification sheet are published. The lead-free declaration, EN 12608-1 documentation, warranty terms and test reports are not published on this site yet. The evidence register shows the current status of each, and you can request them.
What does the warranty cover?
TruFrame offers a 20-year warranty on the profile. Hardware, glazing, fabrication and installation are usually warranted separately by the parties who supply them. The warranty document defines exact coverage.
